ELEPHANT SANCTUARY

Dimensions: Approx. 132’ x 60’ Project cost (less land): $800,000 End use: Elephant barn Start date: November 2002, planning/design; July 2003, groundbreaking Completion date: February 2004 Architectural features: The barn’s exposed-fastener roof panels were formed from 26-gauge Galvalume, with 26-gauge white ceiling liner panels; the panels sandwich R-13 batt insulation. The single-slope metal building frame features 8mm translucent polycarbonate wall panels for natural lighting. Special interest: The elephant Sanctuary is a natural habitat refuge developed for endangered African and Asian elephants. It operates on 2,700 acres.
